Customer Question

I have fried 2 pto switches on wildcat 61' scag mower, the battery was bad so I replaced it today but after 20 min mowing I burnt up another pto switch and blew 1 of the 20 amp fuses. Is the clutch bad?
JA: What's the make and model of the mower? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: 8 year old wildcat scan with 26 hp Kohler engine
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Hopefully
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Sounds like you have an internal clutch issue. You would need to replace the clutch to fix the issue. I just had a JD with Kohler engine with this same issue. Replaced clutch and problem has not resurfaced since. It could be a loose wire from PTO to the clutch (check that ground is grounded good), but mine was a new PTO Clutch to fix issue. Let mek no if you need anything else please. I am here to help.
