Customer Question

We bought a Huskee LT4200 3 year ago and this year it seems to easily overheat.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: It takes us 4 hours to mow a small yard because it keeps shutting off after a few minutes.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Hoping to.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Any ideas no what the problem may be.

What engine do you have? Single cylinder? When engine quits, how long before it will restart?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 4 months ago.

Engine has to loose spark or fuel. If it has no spark when it quits, tested with a spare spark plug attached to the spark plug wire and grounded while cranking, your ignition coil/magneto is bad and needs to be replaced. If it has spark, we have to assume it is loosing fuel. Does it have an electric solenoid in the carburetor? Does it have 12 volts to it when the key is on?

Is battery voltage good, and you do not have to jump start the engine?
