My troy built zero turn with Kohler engine at start sounded

Customer Question

My troy built zero turn with Kohler engine at start sounded like I had lost some of the starter motor teeth but starts anyway. after several start and stop episodes repeating the sound, until lastly the sound was a complete rashing of teeth sound and no start. Removing the stater showed all gear teeth in tact, therefor the sound was evidently some other engine fault failure What's my problem and what do I do

Hi my name is ***** ***** welcome to Just Answer. Try removing the spark plug and see if it turns over ok . If so we can start looking at compression issues etc
