What is the fuse killing? Mower stopping or is the engine stopping ? What engine is this? Gas or diesel?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
20 amp fuse that that is involved with starter relay, fuel solenoid , the 4wheel drive relay and gauges/hour meter. Engine is stopping and is a diesel.
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 5 months ago.

Usually it is alternator/voltage regulator or the fuel solenoid. If fuel solenoid has to be energized to keep engine running, it is prime suspect. Do you notice if the solenoid is getting overly hot? Can solenoid be removed and engine ran without it for test?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 5 months ago.

Next would be to unplug voltage regulator and run test.

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Fuel solenoid must be energized for engine to run, it is mounted to the injector pump. Engine can not be run without it. The alternator puts out 14.5 - 14.7V at the battery, also with battery disconnected, it puts out 15.1 V.

What engine? usually the fuel solenoid can be removed, and the hole taped up for test.

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
It is a Perkins 51HP
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 5 months ago.

oK< well you can't remove it. Check it for getting hot.

O.K. will do this tomorrow, Does alternator output seem to be in range?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 5 months ago.

Yes alternator output seems fine.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 5 months ago.

With fuse blowing, it is just a matter of removing or disconnecting things, until you can isolate the overload.

O.K. thanks
