Customer Question

My 1984 onan 6.5 NHE generator turns over real slow, i can take the spark plug out closest to starter and it turns over fine. Taking out the other spark plug does not make a difference. Any ideas?

Check the valves on the cylinder that seems to load up the engine. Likley the valves are not opening, maybe a rocker or camshaft problem.

the valves are moving, and i can start the engine using my 200 amp jump box. when the engine starts it runs fine. the manual does not show how to adjust these valves. Can these be adjusted using the nut that pushes up on the valve stem?

Yes, that would be the adjuster.
