Customer Question

My 2 yr old pressure washer had a burp while running and I can't get it to pressure wash now. The water just runs through the system, but no pressure.

Hello, my name is ***** ***** assist you.

What brand is your washer?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It is a Karcher washer, but I can't find the model number on it. I have disconnected the water and electrical and then rehooked thinking it may be air in the line, but it still does not pressurize.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I was on a ladder and switching the wand from one hand to another and let it go off and then right back on and then is when it would not pressurize.

Is this the gas or the electric model?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
This is an electric washer.

Thanks. there are a few possibilities that could have happened to your washer. You could have lost the connection between the motor and the pump, a relief valve stuck open inside. the valve on the wand not opening all the way, or a failure inside the pump. Having your model number I can get the correct diagrams and guide you through a repair if you wish.

I can walk 100yds to the shop and maybe find the book on the washer. You don't know where the model number may be on the washer, do you?
Expert:  Clamp-onTech replied 11 months ago.

There will be a tag on the frame of the washer.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
K3 690 is the no. at the detergent dispenser.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Another no. to the right is 1.601-772.0 The tag says 06/09 so it may be older than I thought. I think it was about $106 new so I don't know that a repair is in order. If it was just locked up and I could free it up, then OK.

I guess we are done. 45 minutes and no progress.

i have several questions going and was looking up the diagram for your washer.

Can you remove the tips from the nozzle and inspect the high pressure spring.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
There are special star screws in the wand. It would necessitate taking it to the shop 100 yds out back and it is raining now.
Expert:  Clamp-onTech replied 11 months ago.

No worries, there are no time limits here.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
There is a white plastic nozzle at the tip of the wand. It is clear and I can blow through it.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Mine is the wand #4 on p. 28. Are you thinking that one of the springs is bad?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It really sounds like the pump is not running like it was before it quit spraying. You notice the difference in sounds.

Thank you.. Can you remove the plastic covers and access the pump portion of the unit. I need to to inspect the piston drive and the pump housing.

Charles,
I hosted a reunion this weekend and have not had the chance to take the cover off the pressure washer. I will be out of town for three days.
