I have removed the mower deck so that I could get at the transaxle. The problem still persists with their being something like a brake which causes the engine to die when the clutch is engaged. When the transmission is put in gear, the tractor will advance or backup in spurts as I engage and disengage the clutch in order to keep the engine from dying. With the engine not running and the clutch engaged, but not in gear, the tractor rolls just fine either backward or forward. I have also rotated the pulley on the transaxle, since I removed the mower deck, and it turns freely! Help!
