Over heating. installed new thermostat and temperature sensor. still overheating

Customer: this is on a generator. the problem started a month or so ago during a power outage.
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?
Customer: It is a natural gas fueled whole house generator. runs great until it shuts down with a message stating it has overheated.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes

These are things you need to check. You most likely have done some of these steps but I wil list them as standard procedure.

1: check the coolant level .2: if the coolant is a few years it should be replaced ,3: if the level is good and the coolant has been recently replaced make sure it was reaplaced. wih the right type.
Just plain water will not cool the unit properly.

do not top off low levels with water.

4: check lines and hoses for leaks.

5: check for blockages , insects, nests
