The air gap is the space between the coil and flywheel . To set it loosen the coil bolts , put a business card between the coil and flywheel, then have the flywheel magnets draw the coil to it so it pulls the coil in with the business card in between them , tighten the bolts then turn the flywheel to get the business card out , at that point the air gap is set
