My John Deere LX178 will not disengage the parking break and the Drive and reverse pedals will not work

The 178 has a drum type brake, check the linkage back to the brake, and see if it is moving. If brake is stuck, you can remove the three bolts holding the outer housing and remove the brake shoe side to loosen the brake.
