Onan 4000 Emerald Plus on a 95 Chevy Chassis Winnebago. hold the start button it runs okay let go of the button it stops. when I first got it you could start it right there and it would run fine didn't put 20 minutes on it. Did a bunch of other non generator work. came back to it now that's what it does. is it the solenoid voltage regulator how does one know?

The most common cause of this is that the genset is no longer producing any electricity. You need to test and see if it is putting anything out or not.

Open the control panel up, and use a voltmeter directly on the back of the circuit breaker to test the voltage.
