John Deere l110 with 17.5 kohler engine, runs while fine

Customer Question

John Deere l110 with 17.5 kohler engine, runs for a while fine then engine starts revving and sputtering. Looked down the carburetor throat and when it sputters I can see fuel spurt out. Then it returns to high idle, then sputters again, over and over

Engine is starving for fuel, how long does it run before acting up?

Two things to check , one is the fuel solenoid in the above link, if it does not stay open, it will shutoff fuel supply to the engine. It has to have 12 volts at all times. Best test is to replace it with a bowl bolt!

Second is the fuel pickup tube in the fuel tank. If the pickup tube is restricted, it will starve the engine for fuel.
