We have a fairly new Generac generator, model 5939, 5500

Customer Question

We have a fairly new Generac generator, model 5939, 5500 watt, gasoline engine, manual start. Would not start at -10 below zero, oil (5W-30 synthetic) was thick. Now that weather is warmer, the generator starts on first pull. We needed it when temp was colder as power went out. Is there a crankcase heater for non-electric start generators?

Generac does not make a crankcase heater for their portable units.

They do make a heating pad for their home standby units, but it runs $300 and requires 240V to operate.

I do not know of anyone that makes a heater or a portable unit.
