I have a sj621 purchased 12/14. Worked fine last year.

Customer Question

I have a sj621 purchased 12/14. Worked fine last year. Stored in a cool dry clean place over summer. Took it out today and it won't start. Lights come on but blades don't turn. Nothing blocking or jamming the blades. I followed the starting procedure exactly (press button, squeeze lever). What gives?

Hi my name is ***** ***** welcome to Just Answer . Does it make any noise when pulling the lever ?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
it makes a "straining" noise but the blades don't turn. Then it chits off. If I wait a minute and try to restart it, it makes no noise at all.

With it off can you try to move the blades by hand ?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I can rock them back and forth but they won't turn completely.

It sounds like the electric motor is locked up

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
it does. Can it be fixed? Is this typical of this model?

With electric motors it's hit or miss , was it stored in a shed ?

You can Tru getting to the pulley of the electricons motor and turn it to free it up

Electric motor

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It was stored in a clean dry basement.

I'd try to get to the pulley located on the electric motor and try to turn it with it off , hoping it will free up .
