Customer Question

Diesel generator will not start;
7.5 HDKAJ 11451 spec J
Diagnostic code 36
Cleaned the air filter, It was badly fouled. Can not locate the glow plug fuse.
While cranking to start, I get puffs of white smoke.
Do I dare use a starter fluid to clear the situation? Or do you have any suggestions

I do not recommend the use of starting fluid. It can damage the engine.

White smoke can be an indicator of contaminated fuel, or the glow plug not working.

The fuse for the glow plug is located behind the small cover above the start switch. There are 3 fuses and the radiator cap behind that cover.
