Onan 6500 less than 50 hours on it, stored in garage

Customer Question

Onan 6500 less than 50 hours on it, stored in garage 2-years, won't start with jumper cables. Runs briefly with application of "starter fluid" so it seems to have spark, I have drained and refueled. What is most likely problem?

Hi, my name is***** will be assisting you.

Most likely the carburetor jets are stopped up. The engine can't pull enough fuel through the jets to keep it running properly on its own. You will need to thoroughly clean the carburetor in order to solve the problem. You can clean the jets without removing the entire carburetor, just remove the carburetor bowl and you will have access to the jets that are up inside the stem that sticks down from the carburetor body.

Thank you it has been a pleasure to assist you.
