Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Was there any gas left inside your fuel tank, from when you last ran your engine?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
just a tiny bit, I put fresh gas in it
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I mean could not even hear gas in the tank
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Okay. Do you have any carburetor cleaner, or starting fluid?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no I do not
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
you think that is the answer
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

We need to determine if our problem is fuel related, or ignition related.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
you know it was brand new and has not been used but for 10 minutes
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Okay. Will your engine start up briefly, if you use your choke?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no will not run at all
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
probably cranked 30 times
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Okay. I would like for you to try something, when you have a chance.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ready,
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Remove your spark plug, and pour about a teaspoon of clean fuel in through your spark plug hole. Re-insert your spark plug, and try starting your engine again.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok will do
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Thanks! Let's see what happens.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
spark plug is tough to get out
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sits in the center, no way to get without taking case apart
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Okay. Can you purchase some carburetor cleaner tomorrow?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can do it tonight, I will just try that thanks
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

If so, if you spray a small burst directly into your carburetor, to see if your engine will start briefly. This will work in place of pouring gas into your spark plug hole.

Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Have you checked your oil?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
thanks we will try that, heading to wal mart, any other suggestions before I go
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
looks like it has oil, has no run, would oil evaporate
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

No evaporation. If the carburetor cleaner will cause your engine to start up briefly and shut off, then it is likely that your carburetor is at fault.

Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

If your engine does not start, then our problem could be ignition related.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
has 2 oil fills no way to guage how much is there
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok heading to wal mart
Expert:  Donald replied 1 year ago.

Your oil level is ok, as long as it reaches the threads of your oil fill hole.
