I have a 1850 generator and it always starts ok, and runs

Customer Question

I have a Coleman 1850 generator and it always starts ok, and runs great for about 15 to 20 or sometimes 30 to 40 minutes or so. Then suddenly the motor stumbles and drops in RPM. Sometimes the motor then dies, other times it catches back on and continues to run good. Whenever it dies, it always restarts with no problem or sometimes i have to wait about 5 minutes or so even immediately after it dies, so perhaps it is not a fuel-delivery problem. The time of running to when this problem happens is never exactly the same, sometimes happening a minute after it starts running, or it might run great for 20 minutes before it dies, or it might stumble and then catch on again, continuing to run for 5 more minutes.

OK

While the engine is running, does it run smoothly, or is it surging?

When the rpms drop, does it run smoothly, or is it surging?
