Generac Power washer with 420cc OHC motor stalls when hot

Customer Question

Generac Power washer with 420cc OHC motor stalls when hot (takes about 1 minute) , runs much longer when cold (about 15 min).
Looks similar to the Briggs & Stratton 6 problem that was unresolved. What would you suggest?

Does it have spark when it quits?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

No spark when hot, will be badcoil.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks - thought about the coil - but it will start up again after a few pulls immediately after stalling and run, but only stays running for 1-2 minutes. Therefore - if it is behaving like this - and if I check for spark I will probably see one no matter what - correct?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It doesn't die suddenly - it takes up to 60 seconds. It will stall and start back up while its struggling.

Need to go get more gas - give me a few minutes

If it has spark, is the fuel tank venting?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Is engine equipped with oil pressure cutoff switch?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
fuel tank is venting - still stalls with cap off. Yes - it has a oil cutoff switch.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
oil is full - but needs to be changed. could it be gummed up from old oil?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It seems to "cycle" when running, especially when it is not spraying. The motor will rev up and down in ~2 second cycle.
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Remove the oil pressure switch wire and see if engine will keep running.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks - where is the wire?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

At the oil cut off switch.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK - sorry - no indication in manual - where can I find it?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Near the oil filter.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

# ***** is oil alert.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
thanks - but link doesn't work. "bad request" error.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
does this have an oil filter? (Not mentioned in manual)
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi curtis - never got it figured out.WOUld you suggest that i just replace the coil and see what happens? You suggestion RE the oil sensor would seem to cut off the engine suddenly, vs. the way it currently dies (which takes ~30 seconds).
right?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
could it be something with the carburetor? The engine seems to be "searching" when it is in idle with no spray (so when its under the most load?)
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
By searching I mean it revs up and down on about a 2 second cycle
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Revving up and down would seem to be a lack of fuel, and not the coil!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

When coil quits, engine would die and not restart till it cooled off.

Have you cleaned the carburetor.
