Customer Question

Hi Hank.
I have a late-model JD 420 Garden Tractor with the Onan P220 motor. Lately the machine has been stalling after running for about 5-10 minutes. It cuts off completely and abrubptly (no stumbling - almost like the seat switch is triggered while running, but then it won't restart until it has cooled), so I am suspecting an ignition problem rather than fuel. How do I go about troubleshooting the problem? I don't believe I am getting a spark to either side when this happens (tested it by pulling plugs and grounding them while turning it over).
Thanks for any help you can provide!

If no spark, most likely the coil is failing. Replace the coil!
