Is this a plug in charger? And do you have a voltmeter, to test with?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

What is the battery pack voltage now?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Charger is faulting because of low voltage?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Came up as requested phone call?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The batteries tested 8.25 each, 1 was 6.75. I added distilled water to top them off
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

8 volt batteries? the 6.75 battery may have a bad cell!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Charger tests voltage and bad cell would keep it from starting.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I guess thats better than a obc
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

yes!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Does the batery have to be the same?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

As long as voltage is the same, it does not matter. but how old are the rest

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
2 years ithink
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Have it checked and just replace the one.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks Curtis
I will
Have a nice night
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Thank you!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi Curtis, I replaced the battery as you recommended.
The charger gave the yellow light fail to complete charge again
I reset the obc
Still doesn't charge
???
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

What is voltage at the charger plug? Did you have battery tested? Was it bad?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

voltage at the carts charger plug!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I tried two chargers.
I have the voltage meter, but not sure about how to test the plug.
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

there are two connections in the plug, one meter lead to each side. Meter on DC, reading should be battery pack voltage. If not, charger will not cycle.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
36.8 in the plug socket on cart
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

48 volt cart. Where is the voltage lost? The two connections should go to the posiitve and negative sides of battery pack.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
49.5 from batt 1 pos to batt 6 neg
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Where is voltage lost?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

That's why charger is not working.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the problem is before the batteries and after the plug socket?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Battery s read
8.17,8.15,8.35,8.14,8.21,8.36
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Problem is with wires from batteries to charger plug.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ill check big red from socket to batt 1
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

OK

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cleaned to connection for red wire to batt one
The socket then read 49.2
I pluggered charger in but got the yellow again
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Now socket reads 36.8
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

?? Why not 49.2 volts? Have to get battery volts to the plug!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I guess I remove the socket and replace the red lead wire?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Did you check the other wire!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cleaned and reattached both reds on battery. Had 49.2 at socket the charged till yellow light
Now says 36.8 at socket
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Think it's the selenide wire?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cleaned selnoid red
Got 49.2 at socket
Charger went yellow and now socket reads 36.8
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Where does the two wires attach to the posiitve and negative connections? OBC?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The red wire goes from socket to batt one then red goes to a seleniod looking post then a yellow goes to an inverter looking box
The black goes from batt 6 through conduit through fire wall to the inverter looking box
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Remove all the wires but the charger wires from the batteries and see if charger works.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't understand .
What's the charger wire, the first red from socket to batt 1?
If so I remove all wires from all six batteries that go from pos to neg as well as the last black to fire wall conduit?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

The two charger wires are the wires from the charger port. We only want charger and battery pack wires

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I disconnect the second red on batt 1 from the selnoid like thing, and then put charger on?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I just disconnected the second red that leads aft, read 49.2 but charger kicked off again.
All wires except the second red were connected from charger receptical through to last black wire going aft to conduit.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The reading is still 49.2 at the charge receptical with just the charge red attached to batt 1
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

And charger will not come on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Eric charger goes on blue(on) green charge blinks off, on off on off then yellow
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

You say you tried another charger, and it did the same?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Has to be fault with the connection or battery pack, but batteries seem to be correct!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

I will have to opt out, I will be out of touch for the next three days. Sorry.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you Curtis. Have a nice break.
FYI my voltage readings have been with a volt meter.
I just load tested them @ 44.48. That's with the brand new battery
