I have a troybilt riding mower(bronco) and it acts like the carb is restricted. If I hold my hand over the air intake it will start and run as long as Ihold my hand there,as soon as I let go it dies. Help

It sounds like you have something in the carburetor bowl which is blocking the main fuel nozzle or jet. It is restricting the fuel flow through the main fuel nozzle or jet enough that the engine in not getting enough fuel to run without choking it.You will need to remove the carburetor bowl and clean the bowl and main fuel nozzle really good.
