two cycle or four cycle. engine?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
four cycle
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Four cycle has oil in the crankcase, could the oil be over full from gas in the oil? Does oil smell of fuel? from a leaking needle valve in carburetor
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i am ready for a call !
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Did you see my initial reply?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes the oil seams ok the level was low when smoke started.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The gas in tank smelled oily is there a way that oil can mix thru fuel pump?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
No, oil would have to been added to the gas!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i drained tank and replaced with new fuel and as i said before i checked compression it was 170 psi.
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
And it still smokes?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yes
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Check the crankcase vent, it goes into the intake, before the carburetor.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok ill get back to you,
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
If it is plugged or restricted, crankcase pressure will buildup and oil will go into the cylinder. Causing smoking.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't see anything between carb and head
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
it would be back toward the air cleaner end!
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
What kind of fuel pump do you have? Pulse pump can be sucking oil in!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Everything seems open and clear , can this be a ring or piston or head block problem and still have good compression?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
im not sure about pump it is mounted on tank and has line to carb and one line goes to top of engine and also under block some where cant tell .
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Did you check the fuel pump pulse line? See if the line is full of oil. If not the fuel pump, worn rings can do it. Just not something that just shows up!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No oil in any lines at fuel pump
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Not fuel pump, not oil in gas ,that only leaves internal engine problem.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you , I will have to probably have to find local repair
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.
Ok, thanks!
