When I turn the blades on or take my foot off the clutch the mower dies .when I pull the switch to turn on blades it dies

This sounds like the seat switch is bad and is not working.
IF is actually telling the engine that there is nobody on the seat.
You can test the seat switch by unplugging it and getting a jumper wire to jump between the two wires that go to the switch. If it stays running with the jumper, then the seat switch is the problem and you must replace it.
