18.5 Briggs and Stratton / New battery, new starter, new plug. turns over good with no plug in but stops dead on compression stroke with plug in.. jumped right to starter from my car does the same thing. Tom

what has happen is the compression release
in the engine broke, it is part of the cam shaft
this is very common on these engines
You need to replace the camshaft
