Have stihl weedeater FS55R that backfires when I try to start. Is this a timing problem?

Yes when I changed the flywheel.

Was it backfiring prior to that ? , it sounds like the air gap isn't set right or if you bought the coil off ebay or Amazon there is a chance they gave you the wrong coil

Do you know the part number of the coil you bought ? Also where did you buy it from ? Was it backfiring before that ?

It was the original that came with it . Can't see numbers got scratched off by someone

Yes,changed flywheel because I thought it had a bad keyway making it backfire.

If the problem was prior to removing the coil then the coil could be messed up but it's hard to Def say that's the problem , was the key sheared
