Customer Question

I have a JD L110w/kolher 17.5 has a knock like wrist pin or rod. I have been a heavy equip mech I know what I'm doing on larger scale. Have done some small engine work but mostly auto/truck. Is this a possibly an easy fix? I am expecting a full rebuild, I do have access to a machine shop. Are parts readily available? I'm not scared to rip it open.

Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !! The Kohler engine model is still being made, and parts are available through many suppliers. Have you removed the drive belts and ran engine with them off or loose, to be sure it is engine knock and not the drive systems? Have you removed the valve cover and checked for loose rocker or lifter that is not working. Engine has hydraulic lifters, but they can collapse and cause knock! Kohler has on line service manuals through their main web site. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/tp_2339_d.pdf
