Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !!

Curtis B. :

Coil has a single kill wire going to it. Remove the small wire and see if you now have spark.??

Curtis B. :

What is engine make and model, the sears number does not idenify it.

Customer:

tried that still no spark. briggs @ strattonn 6.75 hp 190cc

Curtis B. :

All Briggs use same type of ignition system Are you grounding the plug while chyecking for spark?

Customer:

yes

Curtis B. :

Is the coil about .010 from the flywheel magnet?

Customer:

yes

Curtis B. :

Then th enew coil is bad too. I would take the mower back to sears and have them fix it.

Curtis B. :

There is nothing else that makes spark on the engine!

Customer:

do you know what the ohms reading in the coil should be?

Curtis B. :

Briggs does not give ohm reading, did you see the link on the system I sent?

Customer:

yes i'll try that link ?

Curtis B. :

ok, let me know what you find.

Customer:

The web site you sent me to, tells me to do exaty what i have been doing. Iwill make a .010" gauge out of non-metalic material to re check the coil gap. but i'm sure it is set correctly.
