I have a craftsman riding lawmaker, YTS 3000, model number

This answer was rated:

I have a craftsman riding lawmaker, YTS 3000, model numberNNN-NN-NNNN With the clutch engaged, I have to forcefully change gears. The gears do not line up the numbers evenly as they used to. I cannot get the reverse gear. In gears 3 or higher, the front end jumps in the air when the clutch is released. I still use the mower regularly. I am concerned about the clutch and transmission. What is/are the problem(s)?
Hey there - Im Richard G.

Have you done a gear shift linkage adjustment yet ?

Thanks -

No. I am not familiar with that. Is that the problem?
Let me post it up Jerry. See if i can find that procedure for you.

Im gonna grab me a bite to eat and reply back within one hour.

Before we do that though. When the gear shift is in neutral, is themower actually in nutral or another gear ?

Thanks -

A small number of times. I normally have to RAM it into the reverse section in order to get neutral.
And I assume for first gear would be putting it into neutral ? Is that right ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
No. The neutral section allows the gear shift to have a lot of "play" (can move left to right). When it goes into 1st gear near the number one, there is no "play". The 1st gear is now located half way between the number 1 and neutral.
Below you will find the instructios to adjust the neutral position, This will allow all gears to be reached when in the Reverse. Neutral and other gear positions.

Thanks - Richard -
