Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !!
.030 in would be plug gap. Do you have spark on the plug when it is removed and grounded as you spin engine?
Hi Curtis , I haven't tried that
Is this Briggs engine Or something else.
The model number does not show the engine.
If you put teaspoon of fuel into the spark plug hole and re-install the spark plug, will t fire for few seconds.
Do you have new plug?
Tucumech (spelling) the spark wire boot is so deep . How do I get it to a ground?
You can use a jumper wire on, or just try the fuel in the spark plug hole.
Tecumseh and Briggs both use one single kill wire on the coil. If this wire is disconnected, w ill engine start?
If engine fires with fuel in cylinder, the carburetor needs to be checked.
With fuel smell in exhaust , more likely a spark problem.
That was my first thought ,possibly varnished ? I thought sure I had run all fuel out . I didnt need it last year because we had a very open winter .
Here is link showing the Briggs ignition, yours should be similar.
Same site has carburetor breakdowns.
How do I get you again if I need you ?
Let me change this to question and answer and there will be link in your email.
