I have a 2011 troy-bilt snow thrower storm 2600 with the 208CC

Customer Question

I have a 2011 troy-bilt snow thrower storm 2600 with the 208CC hov engine model 31BM63P3711 serial # XXXXX It was in a fresh water flood during a hurricane.
I have drained the oil and gas tank and there was water in the oil. I am getting a spark and the engine will run few seconds, if I spray starting fluid into cylinder.
I am getting gas to carburetor but not to cylinder. My thought is that the carb is clogged up inside. I have tried spraying cleaner into carb but it is not working. Cost of new carb is about $70 I was wondering if I should try taking it apart or just replace entire unit. Also can anyone tell me where I would get a repair Manuel for this engine. It Looks like you need to take half snowblower apart to get eng covers

Hi my name is XXXXX XXXXX will try and help you with this today. If you had water in the oil then you have water in the carburetor. You need to remove the float bowl off the bottom of the carb and get the water out of it. You need to clean the jets in the nut that you removed to get the float bowl off there should be a few small holes in it that can be clogged also. Im not sure what engine type you have on your snowblower as the parts breakdown don't tell us what it is im going to give you a link to the parts breakdown of the carb for you as a guide and im giving you a link to a video to show you how to do this as a guide. I hope this gets you up and running if not please as me for more help, If you do need more help please tell me what kind of engine is on your blower with the model numbers off the engine and i will see what i can do

Thanks I did drain and remove and clean bowl but no luck the engine is an MTD can't read the model number because of location of Tag it is right below pull start facing down only about 2 " from SnowBlower body (Nice place to put it) SN is 370-sub100343b0554 I think I will try pulling carg of and taking apart can't be any worse off. This was my father in laws I gave him mine which is a better one, till I fix it. worse case I buy him new one, same model and don't tell him Thanks again

sorry it is a storm 2620

Expert:  Glen replied 2 years ago.

Thanks that is the model i used when i gave you the breakdown of the carb. When you clean it make sure you spray carb cleaner up the center area where the bowl nut came out of. This is where all the jets are into the venturi of the carb plus the nut if it has holes in it make sure they are all cleaned out. Even if you can't get it cleaned out that carb isn't all that bad in the link i gave you it is listed at $57.00. If you take the carb off make a drawing or take a picture of the linkages so you can put them back the way they belong

Thanks

Glen
