riding lawn mower wont start, just a clicking sound when key

This answer was rated:

riding lawn mower won't start, just a clicking sound when key turned, starter does not engage but gets very hot after multiple tries. Battery has lots of charge.
Hi, My name isXXXXX you for letting me try and assist you with your problem.
You're obviously gettting power to the starter or it wouldn't be getting hot.
But it sounds like it's bad because it wouldn't get hot unless it was stuck or shorted out internally. You're looking at a new starter to fix this mower.

I ordered a new starter from my local John Deere dealer. It came and was the wrong one, so now awaiting another one. I'll let you know how it works out. Hopefully by the end of the week. My lawn is getting way out of control.
Ah that's fine. Let me know if i can help with anything else.
