Ranwell1 :

This is a question that is asked often. The answer is "YES" and "NO". I understand that this may be a confusing answer.

Ranwell1 :

But in reality, YES you can install a different muffler, but if you do you will run the risk of burning the valves in the engine.

Ranwell1 :

The mufflers that are installed on the engine are carefully calculated for the amount of back-pressure that the particular engine requires. If a different muffler is installed, it will usually increase the amount of back-pressure and this will in turn cause the engine to run too hot....burning the valves an overheating the engine..causing other issues even engine failure.

Ranwell1 :

We have been asked if a customer could put a pipe extension on the unit to route the exhaust farther away, maybe under the RV, but again, the longer the pipe, the more back-pressure and the more likely it will overheat and burn the valves and other parts of the engine.

Ranwell1 :

Most of the time, we suggest that you DO NOT change mufflers or exhaust systems because of this.

Ranwell1 :

If you are still interested in quieting down the unit, I suggest that you take it to a Authorized dealer and have them see if they can come up with something that will be in the same back-pressure range.

Ranwell1 :

I understand that this is not the exact answer that you were looking for, but it is the best answer I can give you right now.

Ranwell1 :

If I find out anything more, I will try to contact you at a future date.
