I have a 1970s wards tractor Briggs model 326437. It was firing fine then suddenly stopped. Any ideas?

There are several things that can cause this.
On of the things that comes to mind is that the ignition has stopped working and you may not have any spark.
Check the spark and see if you have any spark.
If you do NOOT, then it is likely that the ignition coil is bad and needs replaced.
If your engine uses ignition points as most of the older engines did, it is best to replace that ignition system, with the new electronic ignition Part number. 398811 price is around $40.00
If you have good spark, then there are many other things that can cause this. It could be that the carburetor is not getting enough gas through it and it may need to be cleaned and rebuilt with a complete carburetor rebuild kit.
It also could be compression or anything else.
Here is a parts list for an engine like yours. Since you didn't provide the EXACT type number and serial number for your engine, I could not get the EXACT parts list for you, but this will be correct for most of the parts. It will not have the correct part numbers for the crankshaft or some of the other internal parts, but it should be good for all of what you will need in this situation.
If you get me the rest of the numbers, I may be able to get you the EXACT parts list.
