I have a B&G 18.5HP intek plus engine on a Craftsman DYT 4000 riding tractor/mower that was running well and all of a sudden quit with a bang. Trying to start the mower, it turns over 4or 5 times, POPS very loud or BACKFIRES whatever you want to call it but will not start. Repeating it , will only produce the same results.The fuel pump and spark plug were recently installed. It appears to be getting gas and spark.HELP!!!!

The problem sounds like you may have a rocker arm that jumped off or possibly sheared a flywheel key. Check the rocker arms first. Remove the silver cover at the front of the engine that has the letters OHV stamped into them.Check to make sure that the rocker arms are directly above the valve and that the pushrods are under the rocker arms.
