How do I get a Dayton Generator 4zz20 off of the Briggs motor?
Optional Information: Make: Dayton Model: 4ZZ20 Already Tried: Took front of generator off.
Hello and welcome to Just Answer,
Remove the bolts that hold the engine to the generator frame. These will normally be rubber mounts. On the front of the generator there will be a long bolt that goes through the center of the generator head. That long bolt screws into the crankshaft. The crankshaft is tapered to mate with the taper of the generator head. The long bolt holds it together. You have to break the taper loose. The best way to do it is to run the long bolt back in until the head of the bolt almost seats, but does not touch anything. You will then need to use a large hammer and a brass punch and hit the head of the bolt a few times to break the taper free. Once you have the taper broke apart it will slide apart pretty easy.
