I have a Tomahawk chipper shredder Model 11427 with a 5 hp Tecumseh engine that is over 20 years old. If I were to replace the engine a carburetor, what model engine would I pursue?
Optional Information: Make: Troy Bilt Model: Tomahawk Already Tried: Tried getting in running
My suggestion to you would be to contact this website. www.smallenginewarehouse.com Make sure that you call them on the phone and descuss the engine with them. Please have the model and specification number ready when you call. Also have the model number of the Chipper Shredder available as well.If I had the unit in my store, I would easily find an engine that would fit, but it takes a lot of measuring to do that without the numbers and cross references that www.smallenginewarehouse.com has available to them.
There is a slight chance that they might have Tecumseh engine in stock that would be a direct replacement, but it is not too likely since Tecumseh has been out of business for over 2 years.
There phone number is XX the right hand top corner of their web page.
I also may be able to help you get your old engine working well. Most of the time the problem that causes them to be hard to start is a gasoline and carburetor issue.
I have a very good carburetor and gasoline answer that will help to fix almost any carburetor and keep it fixed if you would like me to send it to you, let me know.
Please get back to me and we can talk further if needed.

I got no information that was useful from the web site you recommended. I have taken my engine in to a small engine repair shop for either repair or replacement.
I said that you MUST CALL THEM ON THE PHONE !!!!!
You will NOT get any information on their website!
If you did not do what I said, then how can you rate me "POOR SERVICE"?
In addition, I said to contact me here at this question and I would help you further.
Please reconsider your rating as I was really trying to help and this was just the first of many intended conversations between us.
Did you finally call www.smallenginewarehouse.com on the phone and let them give you the information you needed?
Please let me know how things worked out.
