I have a Troy-Bilt pressure washer Model 020344. The engine starts, then shuts down and will not pull to start again until water is released from the sprayer. It seems as though tremendous pressure is relieved when opening the sprayer. Is there an adjustment to this or any thing I should look for?
Optional Information: Make: Troy-Bilt Model: 020344 Already Tried: Removed and cleaned a spring loaded brass assembly in line with the sprayer side beneath the engine. Looked like it had an adjustment on it but I have no clue what it is and can't find a repair manual for it anywhere.
Hello my name is XXXXX XXXXX X will try to help you with this. There are two valves one that regulates the outlet pressure and is often adjustable if it is too tight it will not allow the pressure to circulate when the trigger is released. Sometimes it can be screwed in and out and it will break loose any corrosion in the valve and allow it to start working. You can also try starting it with the trigger pulled and see if it will run and spray this can also break the valve loose if it is not too bad. Other than that dis-assembly and cleaning is the only way to make it work. Ig none of those things work you may have to replace the valve assy. I can assist you with finding the parts if need be.Kevin
That may be a good answer but I won't have an opportunity to try it for a couple of days. I did disassemble and clean one.... I think it is the one you are talking about. It has a set screw at the tip. Do I loosen this to adjust it?Thanks,Perry
No hurry these things take time. I will see if I can locate a diagram to help it sounds right but I want to make sure I dont steer you in the wrong direction.
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/troybilt-0203441-2500-psi-pressure-washer-parts-c-26780_27006_30005.htmlIn diagram 6 on this page it is the part next to the thermal relief #8 It looks like that is not an available separate part either. Hopefully yours will clean out.

I think I can handle it from here. The part is the one I did take apart and clean, but I may have reassemble it too tight. If not there are a couple of parts that I cleaned last year that I forgot about, nos. 8, 12, and 11. I will do those too if loosening the first fitting doesn't work. Thanks
You're welcome please let me know if you need more help.Kevin
