I have a Poulan Pro split shaft pruner model #PP446ET. It won't run after sitting up all winter. I took it to a small engine repair shop and was told it would be cheaper to buy a new one. Since I already have a tree pruner and string trimmer attachment, can I just buy the assembly with the edger attacment, or do I have to buy the whole kit?
Make: Poulan Pro
Hello , My name is Matt
I see this hundreds of times each year. With out the use of a fuel stabilizer the fuel turns to a varnish in the carburetor. I tell my customers to use Stabil or another quality product in their fuel. It can save hundreds in repairs over the life of your equipment.
To answer your question. Yes you can just purchase a new power unit, or any other combo to use with the attachments you currently own. Most of these attachments will be universal between brands.
Your mechanic offered acceptable advice. In alot of cases replacing it is better. If your handy you can install a new carb, and you will only be out 30-40 dollars
