i have an older model riding mower, that i just purchesed a month ago, used.. it was running fine, until last week, i began to mow the yard, the mower, began stalling, and then eventually quit.. When i tried to restart it, it just whines, and won't turn over.. i am far from handy with mechanics, but it is a Craftsman 12 hp mower..i did have to put some gas and oil in before mowing, but like i said, it started and mowed half the yard, before stalling out, and then a whinning noise when i turn the key.. i checked the battery, and it has juice.

Do you have a voltmeter to test the battery?
Battery should have minimum of 12.5 volts with key off, then with leads still on the battery, turn to to start. Does it drop below 8 volts?
If voltage drops below 8 volts, the battery does not have enough voltage to turn engine.
Does this mower have electric pto for blades?
