Customer Question

i have a 86' moto 4 225. i bought a new piston and ring set, installed that, now it seems that i have compression coming out of the carborator than the spark plug hole. there is a arrow on the top of the piston, should it face towards the front or the back, or does it make a difference??

Doug :

Hello

Doug :

The arrow always faces the exhaust.

Doug :

That may not be the problem. Did you get the cam timing correct?

Doug :

The 200 and 220 time the same so that diagram should work for you.

Doug :

If you have compression coming back through the intake, the timing may be off.

Doug :

Check it out and let me know what you find out.

JACUSTOMER-6n2063wc- :

the timing is correct, the arrow is facing towards the exaust. i dont know what else to try.

Doug :

Do you have a compression gauge? If so, see what your compression numbers are. It would also be a good idea to do a leakdown test. That finds any problems with rings or valves.
