WITH MOWER IN NORMAL POSITION(NOT STANDING UP),REMOVE BELT COVER COMPLETELY(MAY HAVE TO REMOVE RUBBER HANDLE COVER FROM BLADE ENGAGE HANDLE). LOOSEN IDLER PULLY NUT(ON BOTTOM OF SMALL PULLEY) MOST OF THE WAY. PULL OLD BELT OUT FROM BETWEEN IDLER PULLEY AND PULLEY GUIDE AROUND FRONT SPINDLE PULLEY.REMOVE BATTERY AND CLOSE FUEL CAP VENT THEN STAND RIDER UP TO REMOVE BELT FROM ENGINE PULLEY.HAVE SOMEONE DEPRESS AND HOLD THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO GIVE YOU SOME ROOM TO PULL BELT FROM AROUND REAR PULLEY AND RUBBER DRIVE DISC.. PUT NEW BELT AROUND REAR PULLEY FIRST, THEN SQUEEZE BETWEEN IDLER PULLEY AND BRACKET. IF NECESSARY, YOU CAN START ON MAIN FNT PULLEY THEN TURN PULLEY TO "PULL" THE BELT IN PLACE. WHEN ENGAGED, BELT SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 1 AND 1/4 GAP BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES. IF NOT CORRECT, MUST SHORTEN OR LENGTHEN THE ENTIRE MOWER BY LOOSENING THE CLAMP ON THE MAIN TUBE UNDER THE SEAT SPRING. USE CROW BAR AT REAR OF TUBE TO LENGTHEN MOWER. DONE. BELT click link to the left
the rear pulley is where i'm having the problem does the belt go on the bottom pulley or on the shaft obove it my engine would not turn when i had it on the pulley
The belt sits in the pulley right above the friction disc drive.
Did you look at the link above? BELT
The frame can be adjusted also if needed.
the idler pulley is where smoke and belt fragments are coming from shortened the mower to agap of 11/2
Does the idler pulley spin freely? Is the belt giude on the idler pulley in the correct position and not rubbing against the belt?
no it doesn't turn at all
Loosen or remove the idler and if it still doesn't spin freely replace it. that's your problem and causing the belt to smoke. http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=snapper&mn=3312X6S+33%22+12HP+Extra+Tough+Rear+Engine+Rider+Series+6&dn=8775
