Poulan pp3516 chainsaw recoil spring installing video and/or

Resolved Question:

Poulan pp3516 chainsaw recoil spring installing video and/or pictures that shows steps as well as a picture of the pulley starter backside. There has to be something missing I beleive on the backside of the pulley starter. Can't get the new spring to go in.

Hello,did you hold the new spring with needle nose pliers and install it correctly? Once the spring is in did you wind the rope correctly-clockwise? If not the new spring will be damaged.

One last question, when you put the new spring in, the hook goes in first the rest of the spring is at a slight angle as you press the hook out of the retaining band. When do you cut the band and do you have to hold the spring some way while outting the hook in? Thanks

Grab the hooked end of spring with needle nose pliers and squeeze it so it doesn't fly out.While holding spring push retainer off spring so you can position it .Hold the opposite side down in the housing with your finger and let it unwind in the housing.
