Customer Question

I have a craftsman 26" Model No 247.88691 snow thrower and the auger came un attached from the side housing that holds it in place. How do I get it back into there? The instruction manual isn't all that clear on how to do that!

Vince O. :

Hello,is the bearing flange the shaft goes into bolted on or riveted?

JACUSTOMER-zk7yc1pf- :

It is bolted and can be removed

JACUSTOMER-zk7yc1pf- :

I have removed it but am unable to get the shaft back in place because there isn't enough space to slide it between shaft and the outer wall of the snow scoop

JACUSTOMER-zk7yc1pf- :

There is no give in the outer wall to slide it in place

Vince O. :

Loosen the other side too so you have more give.

Vince O. :

Worst case scenerio would be splitting the case, removing upper bolts from traction frame and loosening bottom two. Then remove the auger pulley and pulling the aguer assy out the front ,then re installing both bearing flanges ,slide back into position and retighten everything.
