You most likely have a carburetor problem and here is what to do, This is either trash or water in the gas
REMOVE THE CARBURETOR
DISASSEMBLE THE CARBURETOR
SOAK BODY AND PARTS OVERNIGHT IN NAPA COMMERCIAL CARB CLEANER
REASSEMBLE WITH A CARB KIT, FROM LOCAL DEALER
DRAIN FUEL TANK AND LOOK IN THE FUEL SUPPLY CAN FOR WATER
NOTE: SOMETIMES A CARBURETOR CANNOT BE SAVED AND HAS TO BE REPLACED
ALWAYS DIAGRAM THE LINKAGE AND PARTS SO IT GETS REASSEMBLED PROPERLY
ALWAYS USE STABIL IN THE FUEL
ALWAYS RUN ENGINE EVERY THREE WEEKS IN OFF SEASON TO CIRCULATE FUEL
the thing was running and ran out of gas, we refilled it and it ran for a while then it started to sputter. we assumed it was pine needles that somehow entered the fuel line when we refilled the tank. being a camping generator we assumed the manufacture would have a filter of some sort to prevent trash from entering the system but there isn't. this is still under warranty but the places they directed me to are no longer handling homelit or out of business so I guess I'll have to get my hammer and saw out and try to fix it myself.
If it is contamination of any sort in the fuel, warrenty does ot cover that anyhow. thanks
