I have Troy-Bilt Pony, 17.5HP, 42" Cut, Model 13AN689G766.The Starter can not crank the engin, it keeps clicking and then after several clicks cranks it and engin starts. I replaced the Starter with a new which I bought from you, but from the begining it was doing the same. Now it can not crank it at all, runs only if I remove the spark plug. Do you sell a better starter, or the problem is in somethig else? Thanks, Andrei
Optional Information: Make: Troy-Bilt Pony Model: 13AN689G766 Already Tried: Replased the Starter, but it does not creank the engeen, just keeps clicking, but cranks it only when spark plug is removed?
Hello,
Do I understand that it cranks over properly with the spark plug removed, but not with the plug installed. correct? What is the engine brand and model information, please?
You are correct. The engine is 17.5 HP by Briggs and Stratton.
I think a valve adjustment should work wonders for you, so let's start there.
Intake - .003"/.005"Exhaust - .005"/.007"The setting should be done on a cold engine with the piston 1/4" past top dead center on the compression stroke. Here's some additional information that shows the process in detail. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to where it talks about adjustments. It'll link to some helpful pictures as well.
