I have a poulan riding mower with a 20 hp kohler courage engine. The mower started leaking oil from the bottom somewhere. Smoking and loss of power at first would no pull a hill now will not pull at all.

The leak is likely coming from the seal in the bottom of the engine or the base gasket. The oil is likely leaking on the belt and causing it to slip.
JR Yes it is leaking from the bottom. The seal ? what type of seal is this you are talking about and if it is the base gasket are you talking about the head gasket?
The bad gasket is between the block and the oil pan of the engine. The oil seal is a normal mechanical seal.Provide the model numbers off of the engine and I will get the part number for you.
