Customer Question

i have a early 1990 vintage Yamaha gas powered golf cart. When the accelerator is depressed the cart misses some and then takes off but when driving it the cart seems to be lugging when the accelerator is fully depressed. Pulling the choke out causes the cart to run smoother and pick up speed but when released it slows down again. Additionally, the chock must be pulled when going up hills -any suggestions?

Hi Koby1133.... Sounds like a dirty carb, I would suggest taking the carb off and cleaning it out good, You will need to clean out all the fuel passages with a fine wire and spray it out good with a can of carb cleaner. Dirty carbs will cause the problem your having as the fuel passages become blocked with dirt and stuff.

If the carb is good then check and make sure your getting a good flow of fuel to the carb, check the fuel cap to see if the vent hole is plugged up also make sure the carb is sealed good to the engine as it may be sucking air around it. If all that checks out good the I would recheck the carb.
