Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Please tell me, what maker and model of embroidery machine are you asking about a problem with?

Please also tell me, *if* you are using unusual fabric, or unusual thread, on this embroidering?

Use the Reply To Expert function to respond to me with that info. Thanks.

(I regret that I am not able to offer Live Phone Call service at this time; However, your request is still open to other Experts in this category, and one of them may pick up on it at any time.)

I think that if fabric is bunching up, then you need to lower the thread tension.

Let me know whether that does OK, answers your question, or not... if not I will advise you further.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
My fabric is not bunching up the thread is nesting under the fabric.
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I have changed the needle and the tension on the top. It is still nesting.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 2 months ago.

OK.

I'm sorry I didn't understand you at first.

Is the thread bunching up or 'birds-nesting' as they call it sometimes, on the upper side of the fabric, or the lower side of the fabric?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Lower side
Expert:  Russell H. replied 2 months ago.

OK.

That sort of problem is not owing to thread tension, I'm sorry to say.

Here is the page with instructions as to what to do:

https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/69788/related/1

In sum, don't turn the wheel, remove the tangled thread, check the upper thread, re-do the upper thread if needed, and raise the needle, and see if that cures the problem.

The problem, in some other models, can be caused by inattentive threading of the upper path. Do you have a manual to follow on that procedure?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I have a manual but it is a self thread machine.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 2 months ago.

Your machine may need repair, then, I'm sorry to say - if the procedure I outlined is not working for you.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Thank you but it is not working.
