Customer Question

I have a Singer Sewing Machine, Futura II, 920. With every other rotation my needle won't go through the hole it is supposed to go through. It just suddenly started in the middle of a project. I see the needle hit the disk but can't figure out how to solve it.

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Is the needle loose? or bent? or mounted aslant our out of alignment?

If not, then you have a peculiar problem. It may be not with the needle, but with the rotation timing of parts under it.

In case the problem is one with electronic controls, rather than a mechanical issue, I advise you to unplug the machine from the power, and leave it that way for at least 2 hours, to 'rest-reset'. Then try it again.

How old is the sewing machine in question?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This machine is about 40 years old. It has not even hiccuped. I have tried everything with the neddle. I really feel it is in the timing but I don't know how to fix that. We live in the mountains and I can't find anyone who fixes sewing machines.

With every one to two rotations the needle wants to hit the metal disk.

Singer service centers are often distant - esp. in central Appalachia. But please tell me your location so that I may check.

Have you tried the unplug-and-rest-reset that I recommended at the end of my previous posting?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have tried to unplug. We live in Talking Rock.
Expert:  Russell H. replied 1 year ago.

Would that be Talking Rock in Georgia, or in some other state, please?
